Mrs. Brooks
Michelle Brooks is a cross-categorical special education teacher working for District 118. Currently, she teaches 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and Science. Michelle has been teaching for 6 years. Prior to changing her career to teaching, she experimented with multiple different careers such as, retail general manager, ESL teacher, credit card fraud interventionist and credit card credit analyst. She loves the switch to teaching, especially special education, because it allows her to see growth both academically and socially/emotionally with all her students. Michelle is married and she and her husband met in South Korea. They got together in Phoenix, AZ where they lived for 10 years before moving to Danville, IL. She has 5 fur babies- 3 dogs and 2 cats. Currently, she is working with her youngest to be an adventure kitty. They are still working on leash training outside, but car rides are a fun experience. Her favorite things to do are READ, watch anime, play RPG games, and quilt. The quilting is a work in progress, but she is slowly getting better at it. Michelle is most proud of being the first in her family to attend and graduate college. Because of her influence and leadership, two of her younger siblings have Masters' degrees, another just finished her teaching credential in elementary education, and another sibling has an associate degree.
