Scholastic Bowl is a game played by two teams of five players each who try to answer questions in the areas of science, social studies, math, music, literature, current events, consumer education, health, etc. Our team consists of fourth grade students. We compete against other elementary schools in District 118.
Our basketball program begins in February and is open to 4th grade boys and girls. We practice the fundamentals of playing basketball and working as a team. An elementary basketball tournament is held at the end of the season.
Edison Elementary School has an extracurricular track program that is open to all fourth grade students. This is a fun program that gives the students an introduction to the basic fundamentals of track. We practice several different events such as the 60 yard dash, 100 yard run, 220 yard run, Shuttle Run, and 440 yard relay. As a culminating activity students get to take part in a track meet at Danville High School’s outdoor track.
Volleyball is offered in the fall for 4th grade students. It is held after school and bus transportation home is provided. In this intramural sport, children work on fundamentals and how to keep the game moving. A highlight of the season is the final practice when parents attend and play against the students.
